The right advocacy efforts can create broad and sustainable change. SVP DE advocacy is targeted at reforming Early Childhood Education in the state of Delaware and promoting "Effective Philanthropy." Early Childhood Advocacy: Seven years of engagement in Early Childhood Education in general and in specific nonprofits has given SVP DE and its Partners valuable experience and unique insight.SVP DE is active on the following committees:Policy Matters, the Delaware Early Childhood Council, the Delaware Coalition for Early Learning, the Delaware Children's Coalition, United Way's Success By Six, Delaware Stars for Early Learning advisory group, and the Juvenile Justice Advisory Group's Criminal Justice Council. SVP DE staff and Partners are also working with the Department of Education to formalize a public-private partnership to help bridge the gap between policy and programs. The goal of these efforts is to inform and shape policy reforms to increase the quality and quantity of early childhood education for the area's most at-risk children. Philanthropy Advocacy: SVP DE staff and Partners are using lessons learned through our investments to promote "Effective Philanthropy." Key elements of effective philanthropy we've identified include:endorsing grant-making for operating expenses, promoting donor-engaged philanthropy, and emphasizing the need for capacity building.SVP DE participated as a speaker in The Future of the Non-Profit Sector in Delaware conference and the Junior League of Wilmington's Community Advisory Panel.SVP DE hosts informative seminars on philanthropy development to educate and inform its partners and the community on various aspects of effective philanthropy. The scope of these advocacy efforts is broad, reaching local foundations, the corporate funding community, individual donors, and the SVP DE Partners themselves.
